Food for aureole node citizens is grown internally, in the aureole node's agriculture zones. Bots do most of the food-production work, but sometimes organic human labor (typically applied as a penalty for minor crimes) is used in the growing process. In addition to organic growing-fields, aureoles use space within the habitat buildings, for aeroponic and hydroponic growing operations, and for in vitro food production. Each aureole node can grow all the food it needs to meet the nutrition needs of its citizenry. If there is a shortage of anything, then a given node can import from another node. The aureole system as a whole is designed to be self-reliant.
